CUSTOMER SPOTLIGHT
Jillian Soh, One-Moment.org

One Moment is a charitable campus society based out of Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia. It was started by three students during the month of September, 2007 – Fahad Kabir, Geoff Seto, and me, Jillian Soh – and we are in the process of expanding and recruiting more members. We've been friends since high school and are currently in our sophomore year of University.

There are two main goals that this society wishes to accomplish. The first is to encourage reflection within the student populace of one's own life – too often we see our friends and peers running around campus – preoccupied, worried, or stressed out. People rush through life without a second thought, without taking time to enjoy it. We want to change that attitude by setting up fun events for the students (and faculty) to participate in, so that they can enjoy life, and take just One Moment for themselves.

The second goal is to raise funds and awareness to contribute towards AIDS/HIV Relief, specifically for children under the age of 15 worldwide. What makes us different from other charitable groups is that we're trying to raise these funds and awareness by recognizing the donor. Thus, money raised through activities which serve to encourage and provide a fun environment for the university community will be put towards a good cause. Donating then becomes a consequence of having a good time, and not something you feel pressured to do out of guilt. Enjoying yourself through one of our society's activity then also provides One Moment for a child in need of it.

Synx3 has told me I needn't talk about them during this spiel, but as the maintainer of our webpage for the society, I need to pay them a tribute. Our society has gotten quite a few compliments about the professionalism of our website, and that would not have been possible had Synx3 not provided us with an amazing hosting service. They have pulled through every time we've run into hiccups in getting our site set up, have been extremely friendly and generous, and I feel it would not align with our philosophy if we did not acknowledge that! So from the whole society, we thank you!
